Reader discretion is advised for scenes of unique and creative sexuality, pervasive lewd imagery and language, and down the line, scenes of violence that may be offensive to some readers. If you have delicate sensibilities, best move along.
Welcome to the Sex for Poets Sandbox! I write, I play, I post, and in the process of making the rough draft public, perhaps I can gain greater insight into this novel as I complete the rough draft, rather than after.
As an introduction to Sex for Poets, below is the synopsis:
Change is coming for Clara Worthington. But she is not alone. Change is coming for every citizen of the pure and righteous community of New Crescent City, foretold by strange symbols scrawled across every public surface, and the prophetic words: WE ARE ALL ANIMALS.
Forty-five years ago, The US Purity Act of 1978 was initiated to protect our communities from the devastating effects of pornography, but over the years, the amendments grew stifling. First, sex outside of marriage became punishable by law, and explicit scenes were removed from movies by the government. Then bikinis were outlawed. Anatomy textbooks were sanitized. Flirting is now akin to promiscuity. And lipstick was long ago relegated to the realm of folklore. Only the eldest of our communities—the Immoral Generation—remember a world that allowed such liberties.
Clara, photographer and owner of a women’s art collective, has dedicated her life to the most worthy of causes: eternal chastity. So when an anarchist group who worships the freedom of sexual expression puts on a savage exhibition during the annual Purity Festival, Clara—and the city she loves—is left in chaos. There are those who fight against the unrest, and those, like Clara and her friends, who succumb to their suppressed curiosity. But in a world devoid of sexual expression for generations, many cannot handle this newfound freedom. Morality becomes restriction. Experimentation becomes a vice. And some begin to lose their minds in the face of an unfathomable new society.
SEX FOR POETS is many things. It’s a high art literary interpretation of erotica in a way that’s never before been seen. It’s a psychological kaleidoscope of sexual experimentation. It’s a tale of war between the old ways and the new. It’s a story of broken trust, revenge, and a new kind of love.
But there is one thing Sex for Poets is not.
It is not a romance.

I’m a lover/writer of dark literary fiction. Surrounded by an endless supply of pens, papers, paints, and clay, I grew up in the Florida Keys and was taught proper wheel-throwing techniques before mastering my shoelaces. I currently live in Dunedin, Fl, with my brilliant kid and small herd of cats.
I find beauty dreadfully boring.
